The thing about most dress makers and retailers is that they’re not local. Usually their products are made outside of Canada in another country. We’re not pointing fingers at anybody specifically when we say this, but we’ve seen dresses made of materials from other countries that are very flimsy and all too easy to destroy—usually without your meaning to in an accident.
In contrast, local dress companies such as ours are proud to be Canadian! All of our dresses are made in studio by Emily Liebich, the owner of Love U Designs, plus she only orders her materials to make the dresses from Canadian manufacturers. By shopping local, you are in turn supporting other Canadians who worked to make your new dress a reality.
Transparency
One thing we hate about shopping sometimes is that we don’t get a good idea of the people behind the dress—you know the feeling. More and more people nowadays would really rather buy from the person and not the brand.
Lucky for dress companies like ours, you get to meet the people behind the brand! We love getting to meet new people at our studio or hosting home parties for those who want to try our dresses in person before they shop online. We love getting to know you, and there’s no extra step to try and see who is behind the brand—all you have to do is get in touch!
Local companies are way closer to your home
There are definitely some beautiful dresses you can find online—no doubts about that. One thing you can’t do with some companies however is really get a sense of the dress without buying it first. Every woman’s size and shape is different, after all.
Local dress companies, on the other hand, are just that—they’re local to your neighbourhood, meaning you don’t have to go too far to find a new dress. (PS: if you’re in the Coquitlam area then you’re really in luck, because that’s where our studio is located!)

Local businesses are way more likely to donate to more impactful causes such as charities and small business events. They also sponsor the fun annual events that take place near you!
By supporting a local dress company, you are in turn supporting not only the company itself but also the people working behind the scenes. They’re the ones who work hard to provide you with great things such as new clothes, fun events, and gradual improvements towards a better quality of life.
Diverse dress patterns & styles
Why settle on a dress that either looks good but doesn’t fit you, or fits you but it doesn’t look good? By supporting a more local dress company, you are in turn supporting the business’s ability to create some really diverse dress styles, even patterns and colour schemes! We’ve seen some really cool and unique dresses come out in the past year, whether it’s for your own personal use or for weddings and special occasions.
